"[E]motionally complex comics about monsters." –(author's description). The realism and depth of the characters is probably what draws me back to White Noise. The story begins with siblings who have been separated while trying to escape an oppressive and violent government, trying to reach a parallel world of otherworldly creatures where they hope to find asylum.

"It concerns a world in a state of apocalyptic crisis, and the precarious lives of many people therein." —(author's description). All of Evan Dahm's characters and settings feel thoroughly alien and much larger than what you see on the page. 3rd Voice follows explorers and map-makers in a world that is fading at the edges. It's maybe my favorite of Dahm's stories so far!

Blind Alley by Adam de Souza

"This comic strip is about growing up in the strange and lonely neighborhood of Blind Alley." —(author's desciption). Blind Alley is a subtle, meandering story. I feel like it does world-building in a geological way, through a gradual and continuous accumulation of layer after layer.
